Listed Kevin Sharkie Tasmanian Oaks, 2100 metres, $150,000

Star Tasmanian filly Still A Star (Toronado {Ire}) added further black-type to her resume with a hard-fought win in the Listed Tasmanian Oaks at Launceston.

The filly made it five straight wins, and a fourth stakes success, holding off Look Sharpish (Pins) and Bellx (Rock Hero) for a narrow win.

It was a fitting reward for trainer Bill Ryan and jockey Brendon McCoull, who had piloted her through a summer carnival winning streak.

The filly will now head for a spell.

Pedigree notes:

Still A Star is the lone stakes winners to date by Toronado (Ire).

She was bred by Alva Stud and is out of Lita (Casino Prince), who is the dam of two winners from three foals to race. She produced a filly by Manhattan Rain in 2018, who is Lot 23 in Monday's Magic Millions Tasmanian Sale, and she was served by Bolt d’Oro (USA) last spring.

Lita is out of Royal Asscher (NZ) (Stravinsky {USA}), who won the G3 Red Anchor S., Listed Ottawa S. and Listed William Crockett S. and finished fourth in the G1 Oakleigh Plate.
