Morphettville: G1 South Australian Derby, $502,250, 2500m

Jungle Magnate (NZ) (Tarzino {NZ}) looked to have a bit in hand winning the G3 Chairman's S. in the lead-up and up to the 2400 metres was all the more impressive.

Bred by his part-owner Gerry Harvey and purchased by Mick Price for NZ$75,000 at the 2020 New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sale, he hails from the debut crop of his Westbury Stud-based, G1 VRC Derby and G1 Rosehill Guineas-winning sire - and he is his first Group 1 winner.

His dam is the lightly raced The Love Of Money (Casino Prince), daughter of the Brazilian Champion 3-Year-Old Filly Loving New (Brz) (Choctaw Ridge {USA}) whose six winners include the Brazilian Group 1 winner Questing New (Brz) (Romarin {Brz}) (in turn dam of the Group 1 winner Xic New {Brz} by Refuse To Bend {Ire}) and the local First Crush (Husson {Arg}), winner of the Listed Grafton Cup.

Last spring returning to Tarzino (NZ) (Tavistock {NZ}), The Love Of Money has a yet to be named 2-year-old colt by Telperion (Street Cry {Ire}) and a yearling filly by Reliable Man (GB) (Dalakhani {Ire}).

A descendant of the legendary Marcel Boussac mare La Troienne (Fr) (Teddy {Fr}), Jungle Magnate is the first Group 1 winner for the Tavistock (NZ) (Montjeu {Ire})/Danehill (USA) (Danzig {USA}) cross.

G3 South Australian Sires' Produce S., $127,250, 1400m

Showing good heart when challenged, Twin Stars (Zoustar) looks to be an exciting type for the Tony and Calvin McEvoy stable who also trained her sire's best runner to date in Sunlight (Zoustar).

Purchased by them with Belmont Bloodstock (FBAA) for $225,000 at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, she was bred by Bowcock Bloodstock. The 28th stakes winner for her high-class, Widden Stud-based sire, she is the third foal and second winner for the Listed Dequetteville S. winner Pearl Star (Star Witness).

Also dam of the dual city winner Cumberbatch (I Am Invincible), Pearl Star missed last spring having produced a Shalaa (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) colt in late August. Her dam Pearl Of The Sea (Fastnet Rock) ran fourth in the G1 Champagne S. won by Onemorenomore (Red Ransom {USA}).

Twin Stars hails from the same branch of the historic Marchetta (GB) (Marco {GB}) family as the G1 VRC Sires' Produce S. winner Spectatorial (Spectrum {Ire}). She carries three strains of Danehill (USA) (Danzig {USA}) - Redoute's Choice, Lion Hunter and Fastnet Rock - whilst also boasting crosses of the great mares Special (USA) (Forli {Arg}), Natalma (USA) (Native Dancer {USA}) and Best In Show (USA) (Traffic Judge {USA}).

Listed Adelaide Guineas, $107,250, 1600m

Having to come off heels as the action was really heating up, the promising Illation (So You Think {NZ}) made it three wins from as many starts.

A homebred for GPI Racing who passed him in for $450,000 at the 2020 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, Illation is one of the 40 stakes winners for his in-form Coolmore Stud-based globe-trotting sire.

A full brother to Cornwall Park's G1 Randwick Guineas winner Inference and half-brother to the dual Group-winning New Zealand galloper Dragon Leap (Pierro), Illation is out of the Group 2-placed Pontiana (Redoute's Choice).

Not having a great deal of luck at stud in the last couple of years, Pontiana has not had a foal since 2020 - a filly by I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit {Ire}).

Pontiana is a daughter of the Listed Morphettville Guineas winner Liberty Rose (Royal Academy {USA}), dam of the Listed Crawford S. winner Grand Jardin (Redoute's Choice) from the family of the Group 3 winners Kanzan (Commands) and Ranier (Lonhro).

Illation is one of the 14 So You Think (NZ) (High Chaparral {Ire}) stakes winners line bred to Northern Dancer's (Can) (Neatric {Can}) legendary son Nijinsky II (Can) who appears 4 X 4 via his sons Tights (USA) - So You Think's dam sire - and Royal Academy (USA).

Belmont: G3 Roma Cup, $200,000, 1200m

It was a 10th win from 19 starts for the wonderful galloper Elite Street (Street Boss {USA}) who justified favouritism with this, his sixth success in stakes company.

A homebred for Anita Vale Stud (also breeders of the G1 Oakleigh Plate winner Portland Sky by Deep Field who makes his debut at Widden Stud this spring), he is raced by them with the Morton family.

The winner of over $1.3 million in stakes, Elite Street is the first foal produced by the multiple city winner Elite Ateates (Exceed And Excel) whose dam is the four-time Group 2 winner Ateates (Zeditave), full sister to the G1 Newmarket winner Ruffles (Zeditave).

Served last spring by Frosted (USA) (Tapit {USA}) after foaling a colt by Omaha Beach (USA) (War Front {USA}), Elite Ateates is also dam of the promising Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained 3-year-old Elite Icon (a $160,000 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale graduate by Nicconi) who from his first four starts has won twice at Moonee Valley.

Bred on the highly successful Street Cry (Ire) (Machiavellian {USA})/Danehill (USA) (Danzig {USA}) cross, Elite Street is one of 61 stakes winners sired by Darley's popular chestnut Street Boss (USA) (Street Cry {Ire}).

Flemington: Listed Andrew Ramsden, $500,000, 2800m

Showing good heart winning his third race in a row, the tough stayer Point Nepean (Ire) (Camelot {GB}) earned himself a G1 Melbourne Cup place with this, his black-type breakthrough.

Bred by Snowdrop Stud Company and purchased by Joseph O'Brien for 65,000 gns (AU$120,000) at the 2019 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, the 4-year-old who races in the navy and white colours of Lloyd Williams is the seventh Australian stakes winner for his G1 Epsom and Irish Derby-winning sire - and his 44th stakes winner overall.

His dam is the lightly raced Sea Goddess (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), half-sister to the well-travelled Pure Champion (Ire) (Footstepsinthesand {GB}) - a Group 1 winner in New Zealand, a Group 3 winner in Ireland and a Listed winner in Hong Kong.

Hailing from the same family as the G1 Adelaide Cup winner Water Boatman (Ire) (Main Reef {GB}) and the GB Joint Champion Older Female Miler Nannina (GB) (Medicean {GB}), Point Nepean is bred on a 3 X 3 cross of Sadler's Wells (USA) (Northern Dance {Can}) and a 4 X 3 cross of Danehill (USA) (Danzig (USA}).
