In the build up to the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, we have picked out three yearlings who have had substantial pedigree updates in the past couple of months.
Today, we take a closer look at two fillies with close relations to have recently added significant stakes victories and a colt whose half-brother has delivered Group 3 success to the family roll of honour.
Lot 30 – Merchant Navy x Alice’s Smart (USA) (Smart Strike {USA}) - On Account of Edinburgh Park
Close family relative Eleven Eleven (Fastnet Rock) has given this youngster a timely boost with his recent success in the Listed Christmas Classic at Canterbury Park to go with a previous victory awarded six month’s later following Alligator Blood’s enquiry in the R. Listed Magic Millions 3YO Guineas.
Edinburgh’s filly is a half-sister to the multiple winners Miss Wonderland (Snitzel) and Spencer (Pierro), who are both also stakes placegetters. This is also the family of the G2 Bill Stutt S. winner Glenfiddich (Fastnet Rock), who has twice hit the board in Group 1 events during his brief career.

Lot 314 – Snitzel x Fit And Ready (More Than Ready {USA}) - On Account of Vinery Stud
This colt is a half-brother to the G3 Western Australian Oaks winner Very Tempting (Redoute’s Choice) and also to Outrageous (All Too Hard), who triumphed in the G3 Festival S. since the catalogue went to print.
It is a pedigree abundant with class and pace with the dam a half-sister to the G1 Golden Slipper S. winner and sire Catbird and to the G2 Pago Pago S. winner and sire Danbird. They are out of the Listed Gimcrack S. winner and Group 1 placegetter Fitting (Marscay), who is a sister to the dual Group 2 winner and sire Maizcay and his brother Mzilikazi, twice successful at Group 3 level in South Africa.

Lot 33 – Capitalist x Allez Bien (NZ) (O’Reilly {NZ}) – On Account of Newhaven Park
This filly first foal is out of a half-sister to Inspirational Girl (NZ) (Reliable Man {GB}), a quality mare who has lifted the family’s profile in recent times with success in the G1 Railway S. and finished runner-up in the G1 Kingston Town S., and to Ruettiger (Duporth), also a black type winner.
The pedigree page features the Group 3-winning half-siblings Rainbow Styling (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}) and Zingaling (Redoute’s Choice) while another family member Demonetization (All Too Hard) is a G2 Great Northern Guineas winner and was a close second in the G2 Rich Hill Mile on New Year’s Day.
