The Oaks Stud have a position available for an Assistant Stallion Manager for the 2020 breeding season.

This position involves the daily care of our three stallions, work in the breeding shed and helping out with yearling preparation when needed.

Previous experience with stallions preferred, although not necessary providing you are confident handling colts.

For the right applicant there is the possibility for promotion at the end of the season, when our current Stallion Manager returns to Ireland.

Cornerstone Stud: Operations Manager

Cornerstone Stud, nestled amongst the vineyards of the Barossa Valley and only an hour from Adelaide, is looking to employ an Operations Manager to manage a team of stud grooms for the forthcoming breeding season and beyond.

Cornerstone Stud is a family owned business spread across 550 acres with a hundred or so resident mares and three stallions. Our ethos is simply to help people realise their bloodstock ambitions within the green, clean hills of the Barossa Valley.

We are looking for candidates that will lead by example, develop stud unity and work towards a common business goal of a commercial breeding venture.

Previous experience preparing weanling and yearlings is required along with experience managing a broodmare band throughout the stud season.

Lustre Lodge: Experienced foaling attendant required

Lustre Lodge is a boutique thoroughbred farm and has been carefully designed and constructed over the last decade to cater for the specific needs of thoroughbred broodmares and their foals and yearlings. We specialise in the following:

- Broodmare agistment and care.

- Foaling.

- Weaning.

- Yearling preparation.

- Racehorse spelling.

We are seeking a diligent and highly reliable person to join our team for the season with the possibility of ongoing work going into the yearling preparation season. Accommodation will be provided with a great remuneration package for the right candidate.

Required Skills:

· Must have previous extensive Foaling down experience and post-natal care.

· The ability to assess complicated situations and communicate them in a quick and timely manner.

· Ability to administer night treatment to mares and foals.

· Clearly record accurate foaling details.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Be reliable and able to work alone.

Roster 11 on 3 off with some flexibility. Hours 8pm – 7am.

Mark Newnham Racing: Stable Foreman

About the Role

- The successful applicant will have extensive industry experience, will be motivated, dedicated and have a genuine love of horses. You will work closely with, and under the guidance of the Trainer, Mr Mark Newnham. The right applicant will have the opportunity to learn and grow within the role and responsibility will increase with consistently demonstrated ability.

Experience/Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of the Racing Industry and experience with:

- Safe operation of all training/racing equipment and personal safety equipment.

- Handling horses from yearlings upwards with a variety of temperaments.

- Educating horses on the ground, including swimming & barrier work.

- Rules and Regulations as set by Racing Australia, Racing Australia and other states where required.

- Occupational Health & Safety Standards.

Other Skills

- Strong organisational skills.

- Ability to communicate effectively with the Trainer, Staff, Owners and Officials where required.

- Ability to follow direction.

- Ability to manage a team of horses and staff under the guidance of the Trainer.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Implement and manage the training plan for each horse as set out by the Trainer.

- Prioritise, co-ordinate and delegate tasks on a daily basis and make adjustments where necessary based on weather and staff changes and the racing schedule.

- Report and liaise on a daily basis with the Trainer.

- Monitor and manage Horse Welfare.

- Ensure all records are updated on a daily basis in accordance with requirements of Racing Australia.

- Co-ordinate and manage staff roster.

- Attend Barrier Trials.

- Attend Race Meetings as the Stable Representative as required.

- Ensure OH&S standards are adhered to.

Widden Stud: Senior Stud Hand position

A full time position has become available at Widden Stud in the Hunter Valley, NSW for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated person to join the team as a senior stud hand.

The successful applicant must possess:

- The ability to work in a team environment as well as perform tasks independently to a high standard.

- Strong communication and leadership skills, as they will lead a team of employees who contribute to the overall running of their breeding program.

- Experience with young foals and mare reproduction, enabling them to confidently handle broodmares and foals.

- A strong work ethic with an eye for detail, to ensure the welfare of the team and bloodstock.

- An interest in the thoroughbred breeding industry.
