Looking Ahead - April 29

3 min read

Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Today, we are keen on the chances of two lightly-raced and in-form fillies at the Warwick Farm meeting while at Ladbrokes Park a 3-year-old resuming from a break has performance and pedigree to back his claims.

Warwick Farm, Race 1, 12.50pm AEST, All Too Hard @ Vinery H., $45,000, 1100m

It would be an appropriate result if Forbidden Love (All Too Hard) can win this contest named after her sire and she looks a strong chance to make that come true. The filly was a comfortable course and distance winner first time out and was then a more than respectable sixth in the G2 Percy Sykes S., in which she finished 3.5l behind the high-class Away Game (Snitzel).

Forbidden Love as a yearling

Trained by Richard and Michael Freedman, Forbidden Love was a $150,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale buy and is a half-sister to recent Flemington winner Kuramae (Foxwedge). Their dam Juliet’s Princess (USA) (More Than Ready {USA}) was a five-time winner and a stakes placegetter. It is a well-performed North American family that includes multiple Group winners Dark Cove (USA) (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}) and Heavenly Landing (USA) (Pulpit {USA}).

Dis Dah Wun (Dissident) has a speedy pedigree and is a half-sister to stablemate and dual Group 3 winner Sylvia’s Mother (Snitzel) with the Team Hawkes-trained pair out of Found The One (Bel Esprit), the winner of three races up to 1000 metres.

The dam is a sister to the G1 Robert Sangster S. winner Bel Mer, dam of stakes-winner All Too Royal (All Too Hard). Dis Dah Wun finished a close third when first produced at Gosford and a subsequent trial win will see her present in prime order.

Ladbrokes Park, Race 1, 12.25pm AEST, Long Fine Plate, $40,000, 1300m

Arctic Wolf (Sebring) hasn’t been seen since he finished runner-up on debut in March of last year, but the form is outstanding as he was beaten by Chenier (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}). He was subsequently third in the G3 CS Hayes S. and fourth in the G1 Australian Guineas before his recent sale to Hong Kong interests.

Artic Wolf as a yearling

A $300,000 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale purchase, Arctic Wolf is the first foal of Class (Fastnet Rock), an unraced half-sister to the Listed Laelia S. winner Meuse (Snitzel). Their dam Precious Lorraine (Encosta De Lago) was successful in the G3 South Australia Fillies’ Classic and hails from the mighty Redoute’s Choice family.
