More Than Ready a favourite at Vinery parades

In a highly successful weekend of parades at Vinery Stud, there was no doubt which stallion was the crowd favourite.

“We had a great turnout across the weekend,” stud manager David White said. “The horses were received really well. They were presented beautifully and got a great response from the crowd.

More Than Ready (USA) was certainly a crowd favourite. He’s an extraordinary horse. He’s a 22-year-old now, and his career speaks for itself. "

"When we put him on the plane at the end of last season, we really didn’t think he’d be coming back. But we talked to the team at WinStar Farm, and they said what he was doing was unbelievable. He’d served 136 mares there with a 90.1% fertility rate, he had a great libido and was in fantastic order. “

"At that sort of age, we’d ordinarily be wary about subjecting a horse to too much travel and things like that, but the syndicate decided that the horse was just so well. With his son Better Than Ready kicking goals in Australia last season, everyone decided to bring him back again. "

“He’s been received tremendously. He looks absolutely outstanding. He’s got a wonderful constitution, and he’s just a great horse to deal with.”

Now back for his 19th Southern Hemisphere season, More Than Ready is the world’s leading sire of winners with 1815 from 2475 runners worldwide. He has sired 195 stakes winners, 24 of them at Group or Grade 1 level.

In Australia, More Than Ready has sired 749 winners from 1068 runners, with 72 stakes winners including More Joyous, Samaready, Sebring, Prized Icon, Perfect Reflection, Dreamaway, Perfectly Ready, Carry On Cutie, Phelan Ready, Benicio and Eagle Way at the elite level.

Standing for a fee of $55,000, More Than Ready heads a Vinery Stud roster that also features the proven Group 1 sires All Too Hard and Casino Prince, along with Pluck (USA), Headwater, Press Statement and Star Turn.

“Star Turn has his first yearlings this season,” White said. “We paraded a couple of them yesterday and today, and the response to them was very positive.

“Headwater and Press Statement will have their first 2-year-olds this season, and we’re very excited to see how they go. All of those three young stallions were really well received. "

“Casino Prince and All Too Hard both had great seasons in 2018-19 with almost 200 winners between them.”
