No ordinary chances for Waller

Doomben G1 Hardy Brothers Jewellers Doomben Cup, $700,000, 2000m

Life Less Ordinary (Ire) (Thewayyouare {USA}) won the G2 Hollindale S. well enough on a heavy track at the Gold Coast to warrant serious respect again.

It was his first outing for a month and he’s a past winner second up and is versatile as his best form is on top of the ground.

The chances for Chris Waller run deep as he also has Hollindale runner-up Mister Sea Wolf (Ire) (Amadeus Wolf {GB}) in the line-up as well as G1 Queensland Oaks winner Youngstar (High Chaparral {Ire}) and dual Group 1 winner Shillelagh (NZ) (Savabeel), who will appreciate a dry surface.

Tally (Street Cry {Ire}) wasn’t far away when a resuming sixth in the Hollindale and he has previously been successful second-up.

Archedemus (Lope De Vega {Ire}) has a form line that speaks for itself – seven wins from his last eight appearances – while Kenedna (Not A Single Doubt) was impressive winning the G1 Queen of the Turf before failing in the Hollindale. A better track could see her bounce back.

Well-named filly fancied

Doomben G2 Magic Millions The Roses, $200,000, 2000m

Winning Ways (Declaration Of War {USA}) is certainly living up to her name and is unbeaten in her last two starts, including victory in the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet.

She has been set for the G1 Queensland Oaks with trainer Garry Newham supremely confident in her staying ability and she can add this to her record on the way to the Classic.

Scarlet Dream (Sebring), who finished runner-up in the G1 Australian Oaks and is an obvious threat, and she had a good hit-out earlier this month when she won a 1200 metre trial at Warwick Farm.

On The White Turf (NZ) (Savabeel) has made impressive progress this preparation and didn’t have the best of luck when fourth in the G3 Frank Packer Plate. She has since trialled well.

Kiwi Group winner Pinmedown (NZ) (Pins) has looked very good at home and Queensland has been on her programme for some time. Etana (Shamus Award) was third in the Bracelet and an improvement in underfoot conditions will suit her even better.

Visitor set to impress

Doomben G3 Bernborough Ascot BRC Sprint, $140,000, 1350m

Addictive Nature (NZ) (Savabeel) has turned in two solid Melbourne runs since resuming and from the minimum he offers each-way value. The Danny O’Brien-trained 4-year-old only needs a touch of luck from an awkward gate to make his presence felt.

Chapter And Verse (Rothesay) has also been in excellent touch in the lower grades and looks capable of making his mark in stakes company while Tony Gollan’s Coldstone (Fr) (Gold Away {Ire}) won well enough at the Gold Coast to suggest he’ll be competitive again.

Stablemate I’m A Rippa (Love Conquers All) is backing up from the G1 Doomben 10,000 and this is a much easier assignment for the 5-year-old, who has multiple wins on the course.

Perudo a player

Doomben Listed City Property Services Bill Carter S., $200,000, 1200m

Perudo (Spirit Of Boom) has drawn to shine and as a debut winner she is effective when fresh. The filly has form on wet and dry tracks and will again be ridden by Brad Stewart, who has been aboard in all three starts.

Gem Of Scotland (Rothesay) has a perfect record from four appearances and has also won a recent trial to emphasise her readiness. There’s no lack of exposed form in an open affair with California Zimbol (I Am Invincible) an impressive winner at Canterbury first time out.

Gem Of Scotland

Rose To Victory (Smart Missile) has been a minor player in both starts and is prepared by noted 2-year-old trainer Clarry Connors. She might be one for longer odds and Miss Cavallo (Nicconi) has hardly put a foot wrong and is a course and distance winner.

Epidemic one to beat

Doomben Listed QLD Chinese Jockey Club Bright Shadow Quality, $125,000, 1200m

Epidemic (Lonhro) made late ground for fifth when resuming in the Listed Silk Stocking S. and she has won two of her three second-up starts. She’s ideally drawn to add to that record.

Quilista (Scandal Keeper {USA}) has the big weight, but is racing particularly well while Indecision (NZ) (Per Incanto {USA}) is quick and she’ll be all the better for her latest outing.

Quilista

Sexy Eyes (Written Tycoon) got home well for fourth in the Silk Stocking and won the Listed Weetwood at her prior start. Stella Victoria (Foxwedge) likes this track and dropping back from Group 2 company will help her cause.

Top fresh prospect

Doomben Listed IPG Marketing Solutions Chief De Beers, $125,000, 1110m

Isaurain (Exceed And Excel) has a tidy record with four wins from 11 starts and he has trialled well ahead of his return. The 4-year-old is also unbeaten in three first-up appearances.

Mr Marbellouz (Love Conquers All) returned to his best in the Listed Ascot S. and is drawn well enough to be in the firing line again while Straturbo (Stratum) won two in a row before beaten from a wide gate last time and he has drawn much better here.

Mr Marbellouz

Meet Mr Taylor (Turffontein) has only been beaten once in seven appearances and looks ready for a crack at stakes company. Keen Array (Bel Esprit) was fourth when returning from a five month break and with natural improvement might offer each-way value.

In-form stayer appeals

Rosehill Listed Lord Mayor’s Cup, $150,000, 2000m

Abdon (GB) (Cacique {Fr}) placed in Group 3 company before claiming top honours in the Listed Wagga Cup and the import should be hard to handle. He will get an economical run from an ideal gate.

Emperor’s Way (Roman Emperor {NZ}) is a consistent customer and one for multiples after his last-start second in the G3 JRA Plate behind Grey Lion (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), who has been kept up to the mark for this with a recent trial success.

Live And Free (NZ) (Savabeel) is steadily improving and is now up to a more suitable distance. He appeals as a strong lightweight chance in the hands of the in-form Rachel King.

She’s ready to defend

Awapuni Listed James Bull Rangitikei Gold Cup, NZ$50,000, 1600m

She’s Poppy (NZ) (Alamosa {NZ}) won this race last year when fresh and she has the benefit of two outings to have her ready to defend her title. Overtheriver (NZ) (Mettre En Jeu {NZ}) is tough and won well at New Plymouth and he’s a proven weight carrier.

Hinerangi (Fastnet Rock) comes back in class after a sound sixth in the G2 Travis S. while Dolcetto (NZ) (Per Incanto {USA}) is genuine and a past course winner.
