Listed Wagga Wagga Gold Cup

Race Summary:

Favourite punters were on good terms with themselves after Abdon (GB) (Cacique {Ire}) successfully carried the weight of expectation.

Under a calm ride from Tommy Berry, the 6-year-old bided his time at the back before he was set alight 800 metres from home.

The Chris Waller-trained import rounded the field and was relentless in the straight to comfortably account for High Opinion (Lord Jim {Arg}) and Willi Willi (Mint Lane {USA}).

Pedigree Notes :

Abdon was stakes placed in England before his purchase for 90,000 guineas at the Tattersalls Horse in Training Sale.

He is a half-brother to five winners, including the G2 Royal Lodge S. winner Berkshire (Ire) (Mount Nelson {GB}) and to the dam of the dual Group 2 winner Ivawood (Ire) (Zebedee {GB}).

Abdon is out of the G1 G1 Prix de l’Opera winner Kinnaird (Ire) (Dr Devious {Ire}), a half-sister to the G3 Chester Vase S. winner Mickdaam (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}).
