A glittering array of Australia’s elite level breeding propositions and top quality racing prospects will go under the hammer next month at the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale.

The catalogue release for the May 28-31 Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale features 1070 lots including a host of stakes winners and producers.

Highlights include the G1 Thousand Guineas and G1 Flight S. winner Global Glamour (Star Witness), who has been served by Zoustar; G1 TJ Smith S. winner Linky Dink (Keeper), served by Snitzel; G1 Tatts Tiara winner Miss Cover Girl (Monashee Mountain {USA}), served by I Am Invincible; G1 NZ Thoroughbred Breeders’ S. winner Miss Wilson (Stratum), served by Zoustar and G1 Matriarch S. winner Stormy Lucy (USA) (Stormy Atlantic {USA), who has been served by Fastnet Rock.

Global Glamour is being offered for sale in foal to Zoustar

“To exceed last year’s numbers and to have the quality of stock, both mares in foal and race mares is enormously rewarding, Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said.

“It’s a reflection of where the sale has evolved to in the last six or seven years.

“It’s the place to be and the epicentre of breeding stock sales here in the Southern Hemisphere.” – Barry Bowditch.

“The dams of stars including Winx, Trapeze Artist, Angel Of Truth, Levendi, Microphone, Sunlight, Shoals and Hiyaam were all purchased here providing buyers with immediate returns on investment.

“It’s the place to be and the epicentre of breeding stock sales here in the Southern Hemisphere.”

The mouth-watering catalogue is also a reflection of the hard work behind the scenes of Bowditch and his staff.

“The bloodstock team has worked day and night to acquire these quality mares. The vendors have given this sale enormous support as well in recent years and it’s no different this year.

“Our mandate to ensure we’ve got a market to represent the vendors as best as is possible.”

Similarly, efforts are ongoing to ensure the deepest of buying benches, both domestically and internationally.

“Now we’ve got the catalogue out our job is to canvass all buyers here and all over the world and give the vendors best opportunity to maximise their prices for these mares.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support the vendors of Australasia have again given the sale this year.”

While excited by the proven prospects entered in the sale, Bowditch was equally effusive about the younger stock on offer.

“To have a race fillies and maiden mares’ day, there’s around 200 lots, to have them all on one day and to be able to give them their day in the sun is fantastic,” he said.

“You don’t see that anywhere else in the world, to have an elite race fillies’ day is great.” – Barry Bowditch.

“You don’t see that anywhere else in the world, to have an elite race fillies’ day is great. There’s Group 1 winners, Group 2 winners and Group 3 winners and very well-bred mares all the way through.

“It’s exceptional and we look forward to having that day.” Among the G1 winning producers on offer is the dam of Levendi

Among the seven Group 1 winning producers on offer are Lipari (Redoute’s Choice), who has been served by I Am Invincible and is the dam of the Australian Derby winner Levendi (Pierro); Flion Fenena (Lion Hunter), who has left the Centenary Sprint Cup winner Beat The Clock (Hinchinbrook) and has been served by Smart Missile; Erato (Street Cry {Ire}), mother of this season’s Blue Diamond S. winner Lyre (Lonhro) and served by Russian Revolution and Golden Eagle (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}), who has produced the Caulfield Cup winner Southern Speed (Southern Image {USA}) and served by Invader.

“Lipari is a beautiful mare and she’s done as much as any broodmare can,” said Olly Tait, whose Twin Hills Stud will offer her.

“Her first three foals were very good horses and she’s left a Derby winner. We’re delight to offer her.”
