Inglis has released the catalogue for its revamped Chairman's Sale, which features 51 top-class mares to go under the hammer at the Riverside Stables on May 3.

There has been a significant change of the format and timing of both the Chairman's Sale and the Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale, with the Chairman's Sale now the centrepiece staged separately on the Friday night.

With Group 1 winning fillies/mares Aloisia (Azamour {Ire}), Srikandi (Dubawi {Ire}), Pasadena Girl (Savabeel) and Norzita (Thorn Park) on offer as well as the dams of Hong Kong Champion Sprinter Ivictory, G1 Oakleigh Plate winner Booker and oustanding filly Fiesta, the sale is sure to capture significant attention from local and international buyers.

Aloisia will be offered for sale at this year's Inglis Chairmn's Sale

"We’re delighted with the support that has been given to the sale," Sebastian Hutch, Inglis' General Manager Bloodstock Sales, said.

"As a bloodstock team, we have worked hard to canvas what are appropriate mares for a boutique broodmare sale. There is great variety to the catalogue, even though it’s not a big catalogue, we’ve got mares in foal to a number of hugely desirable stallions in the commercial market place, some of the really hot commercial young horses and we’ve got mares carrying first pregnancies to important young stallions."

"Then obviously, there is a spattering of highly credentialled well-performed race mares or fillies that have got great pedigrees. As a collective, we are delighted with how the catalogue has come together."

The new format sees the Chairman's Sale reserved for top class mares only, with the weanling aspect of the sale now incorporated as the first session of the Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale which brackets the Chairman's Sale.

The other incentive is a change in the commission structure with no sales commission on any of the lots in the Chairman's Sale.

"We're absolutely determined to run a quality broodmare sale," Hutch said. "The Chairman's Sale is a concept which there is great faith in. As everybody knows, we’ve made some amendments to the format, following on from lessons learned last year."

"We’ve already had a huge volume of interest in the sale from domestic and international investors. To me the broodmare market is underpinned by domestic investors. We are looking to canvass the support from some leading international investors as well."

"The early feedback we’ve received is that people are very much impressed with what they see in the book. Hopefully it will translate into good prices for those who are good enough to support us with the sale."

Among those on offer are mares in foal to leading sires Snitzel, I Am Invincible, Zoustar, Written Tycoon, Exceed And Excel and Pierro as well as emerging stallions Russian Revolution, Merchant Navy, Dundeel (NZ), No Nay Never (USA), Brazen Beau, Impending, Deep Field and Capitalist.

Additional wildcard entries into the sale will considered up to April 22, with Inglis asking those interested to contact the bloodstock team.

Also on offer will be a nomination to Widden Stud’s first-season sire Trapeze Artist for the 2019 Australian breeding season, with all proceeds going to injured jockey Tye Angland, while a there is a share in the Russian Revolution stallion syndicate also under the hammer.

Hutch said he is confident between the Chairman's Sale and the Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale, which runs on Thursday May 2 and then concludes on May 6 and 7 that there is a significant breadth on offer.

"Over the course of the breeding stock sales series, we feel that we can cater for the majority of investors in Australia and beyond," he said.

"The quality in the Chairman's Sale filters to the Australian Broodmare Sale, where there are a significant number of highly desirable mares."

"There are also a number of mares that are likely to represent fantastic value. The record of mares graduating out of Inglis broodmare sales going on to produce high-end racehorses is extremely strong and we are confident in the value our broodmare sales represent."

A service to Trapeze Artist will be offered with proceeds going to Tye Angland and his family

The weanling sale features 257 lots, including four out of Group 1 winning mares Precious Gem (Econsul), Srikandi (Dubawi {Ire}), Allow (Rahy) and Barinka (NZ) (Shinko King {Ire}).

Hutch believes the new format and the depth of the weanling aspect of the catalogue have it well-placed to kick off the sales series successfully.

"We’re delighted by the response from vendors. There are a number of very, very strong drafts in the weanling sales and some very well-credentialed weanlings which we think demand the attention of not just pin-hookers, but of end-user investors as well." he said.
