Pedigree Boosters - Inglis Premier

3 min read

In the build up to the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale at Oaklands Junction, we will pick out three yearlings each day who have had substantial pedigree updates in the past couple of months.

Today we check out an Akeed Mofeed (GB) colt from a family who can’t stop winning, a Brazen Beau colt who has had some strong international updates of late and a Street Boss (USA) filly whose half-brother was a recent Group winner and contests this weekend's G1 NZ Derby.

Lot 67 - Akeed Mofeed (GB) x Bel Mer - Offered by Goldin Farms

Colts by in-form stallions out of Group 1 winning mares don't usually need much of a pedigree boost, but this colt's family has been on fire of late. The half-brother by All Too Hard, All Too Royal, has won three races in Sydney in the past couple of months, while another of Bel Mer's (Bel Esprit) progeny was a recent winner at Cairns.

The daughter of Bel Mer's full-sister Found The One, Sylvia's Mother (Snitzel) has also reeled off a trio of wins since the catalogue was published.

Lot 227 - Brazen Beau x Innovation Girl - Offered by Blue Gum Farm

The recent performances of this colt's half-brother Speedy Dragon (Exceed And Excel) in Hong Kong has added some international flavour to the pedigree page. He put together successive wins at Sha Tin in late December and early January and looks to have a bright future for trainer David Hall.

Furthering the Hong Kong cred is the fact that recent HK stakes winner and Group 1 placegetter Conte (Starcraft) is out of Innovation Girl's (Rubiton) half-sister Bright Gleam (Flying Spur).

Meanwhile, two of the progeny of this colt's half-sister, Original Choice (Redoute's Choice), were recent winners at Canterbury and Murray Bridge.

Lot 414 - Street Boss (USA) x Riptide - Offered by Blue Gum Farm

Another offering from Blue Gum Farm, the dam of this filly, Riptide (Exceed and Excel), already hails from a very good family as a three-quarter sister to Headwater and Kulgrinda and a half sister to Cross Current (Keltrice). She now has a stakes-winner in her own right in Crown Prosecutor (Medaglia D'Oro {USA}).

Crown Prosecutor was a winner of the G3 Wellington S. at Otaki since the catalogue was released and contests Saturday's G1 New Zealand Derby for trainer Stephen Marsh, with the possibility he could add another boost to his half-sister's sale prospects.

Recent 2-year-old Group 3 winner McLaren (Exceed and Excel) is also a three quarter brother to the dam.
