Pedigree Boosters - Melbourne Premier

2 min read

In the build up to the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale at Oaklands Junction, we will pick out three yearlings each day who have had substantial pedigree updates in the past couple of months.

Today we check out a half-brother to an Oakleigh Plate winner, a full brother to a prolific stakes winner and the sister of a very promising 2-year-old.

Lot 348 - Starspangledbanner x Noondie - Offered by Mill Park Stud

This colt's half sister Booker (Written Tycoon) added some Group 1 to the pedigree page over the weekend with her win in the Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield. She was already a Group 2 and Group 3 winner but will have added substantial interest to her sibling here with her win.

She is the only winner from the mare Noondie (Flying Spur) so far, but this colt's half brother Banquo did win a recent trial in New Zealand. Noondie is a half-sister to WA stakes winner Tranquility (Redoute's Choice) from the Listed winner Creatrix (Umatilla {NZ}).

Lot 54 - Hinchinbrook x Artful Whisper (USA) - Offered by Maluka Thoroughbreds

This colt is a full brother to Whispering Brook, who while a Group 2 winner already, notched her biggest win in Melbourne with success in the recent G2 Australia S. She is now the winner of seven stakes races.

She is the clear standout of the six foals Artful Whisper (Machiavellian {USA}) has had to the track. Artful Whisper is a half sister to American Listed winner High Maintenance (GB) as well as Irish stakes placed 2YO Charlotte Bronte (GB).

Lot 117 - Nicconi x Clearwater Bay - Offered by Woodside Park

Lankan Star went within a half a length of giving her full sister a huge boost on her page in last Saturday's G1 Blue Diamond S. at Caulfield. The 2-year-old rattled home late but couldn't reel in Lyre (Lonhro) but nonetheless her second, plus a recent Moonee Valley win, has added a bit of a boost to the pedigree page.

She is the dam Clearwater Bay's (Stratum) first foal to the track, so hopes will be high for her younger full sister. It's a family which already hosts plenty of black-type winners, including the third dam Katiyfa (Ire) (Auction Ring {USA}), the mother of Katiykha (Ire) and Kariniyd (Ire).
