Looking Ahead - February 26

Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

On Tuesday we check out a trio of runners at Bendigo, including a recent impressive trial winner from Shea Eden's stable, a Golden Farms homebred who looks to have plenty of speed and a resuming Anthony Freedman sprinter aiming for a second win.

Hartwarming (Exceed and Excel) hails from a very nice European staying family with her dam Lady Mickataine (USA) (Speightstown {USA}), the half sister to the G2 Goodwood Cup winner Distinction (Danehill {USA}) as well as the Listed winner Ivy Creek (Gulch {USA}).

The mare has already produced the Macau stakes place-getter Winbeauty Infiniti (More Than Ready). Hartwarming was a $240,000 Karaka buy for her trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young. She showed plenty of gate speed at a recent Cranbourne jumpout.

It’s worth noting The Egyptian (The Factor {USA}) also makes his debut having made a huge impression in his two trials to date, his latest a win by three lengths, beating one of his rivals in this race, Order Of Valour (Wandjina).

Assertive Approach (Akeed Mofeed {GB}) steps out for Team Hawkes in the Golden Farms colours. He has looked very slick in a couple of recent jumpouts at Flemington and Werribee, leading all the way and it would be no surprise to see him start his career with a win here.

His dam Arrival (Choisir) is yet to have a winner from two foals to the track, but is a three-quarter-sister to the speedy Group winning mare Tuscan Sling (Danehill Dancer {Ire}) from the Listed winner Firenza (Kenny's Best Pal). Firenza is a half-sister to the dam of Hi World, Lite'n in My Veins and Loveyamadly.

All Too Sublime (All Too Hard) kicked off his last campaign with an impressive five-length maiden win at Geelong and resumes here having had a recent jumpout at Mornington, where he settled just behind the pace before coasting to victory.

He was passed in at the 2016 Easter Sales and is out of the Listed winning mare Sublimity (Testa Rossa), the half sister to stakes-winner Rather Grand (Grand Lodge {USA}) as well as Palatine Hill, the dam of Group 1 winner Palentino (Teofilo {Ire}).
