Black type is the top priority for Toowoomba horseman Steve Tregea with any success to have valuable benefits to the breeding operation run in tandem with the racing stable.

With that quest in mind, he has undertaken the lengthy trip from his home base to New South Wales for a crack at the Listed Gosford Gold Cup on Thursday with his in-form 5-year-old Prioritise (Rothesay).

The gelding is trained and raced by Tregea’s family, who bred the gelding under their Windemere Stud banner and was a last-start winner over 1800 metres at the Gold Coast.

“He’s very, very well and he’s as tough as old boots.” – Steve Tregea.

“He’s very, very well and he’s as tough as old boots,” Tregea said. “I hope it isn’t too hot though and not only for the horse’s sake but for me as well.”

Prioritise is a son of Kimash (Jeune {GB}), who has a rich pedigree as a daughter of the Listed Crockett S. winner Asawir (Last Tycoon {IRE}) and a half-sister to the influential stallion Snippets (Lunchtime) and to the mother of Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice).

Kimash is also a sister to the dam of the G1 Kenilworth Cape Derby winner Ertijaal (Hard Spun {USA}) and a half-sister to the dam of the G1 Sir Rupert Clarke S. winner Rewaaya (Singspiel {IRE}),

Further back in the pedigree is the G1 Doomben Cup winner Sense Of Occasion (Street Sense {USA}) and the dual Group 3 winner Sharnee Rose (Nadeem).

Prioritise is by Rothesay

All foals winners

Kimash has a 100 per cent record at stud with all seven of her foals to race having been successful and also includes Dane Babylon (Danewin).

He was sold for $200,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale and won as 2-year-old before adding a further nine wins in Hong Kong where he raced as Dane Patrol.

Tregea no longer owns Kimash, who was foaled in 1998, but is breeding from her daughters Kim Noir, a sister to Prioritise, and Commanding Queen (Commands).

Kim Noir's first foal is by Woodside Park stallion, Rich Enuff

“Kim Noir’s first foal is by Rich Enuff and she’s in foal to Under The Louvre and Commanding Queen didn’t have a foal last year,” Tregea said.

“She has got a yearling by Denman and is in foal to him again and her daughter Conquering Lass has been stakes placed.” – Steve Tregea.

“She has got a yearling by Denman and is in foal to him again and her daughter Conquering Lass has been stakes placed.”

The five-time winner by Love Conquers All ran third in the Listed Legacy Classic at Doomben in her black type debut in November.
