Success with a talented son from Rubick’s first crop prompted Queensland bloodstock agent John Foote to again side with the Coolmore stallion at the Gold Coast.

With champion trainer Darren Weir and owner Brae Sokolski, he secured a daughter of the G2 Schillaci S. winner out of Amarina Farm’s Magic Millions draft for $200,000.

Foote and Weir combined 12 months ago to purchase a Rubick colt for $200,000 and as Yes Yes Yes, whose syndicate of owners includes Sokolski, he followed up a debut second with wins at Flemington and Moonee Valley.

That gained him a place in the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic, but following a lengthy float trip to Queensland he was found to be sore and withdrawn from the race.

“We had a bit of luck with him before that and unfortunately he had to be scratched, but Darren was quite happy to get another one.” - John Foote.

The filly is a half-sister to Saturday’s Magic Millions Plate winner Terminology (Star Witness), who had finished runner-up in the Listed Gosford Guineas at her previous start for trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

Their dam Taylor’s Command (Commands) is a half-sister to the G2 Queen of the South S. winner So Pristine (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}) with last season’s New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Dijon Bleu (NZ) (Burgundy {NZ}) also featuring in the pedigree.

Foote and Weir also teamed up to purchase a colt by Deep Field from Alexia Fraser Bloodstock for $120,000.

“Deep Field is going well and trainers have told us they rate them quite highly so I was happy to get one for Darren.” – John Foote.

The colt is a son of Shiraz Attack (Oratorio {IRE}) and the family of the G2 Emancipation S. winner Faith Hill (Danehill {USA}) and the Listed Lord S. winner and Group 1 performer So Si Bon (So You Think).

Foote purchased nine yearlings at the Gold Coast with his top lot an I Am Invincible colt out of Fenrigg Farm’s draft for $480,000. He is from Dance With Her (Al Maher), the winner of 12 races including the Listed Centaurea S. and the Listed Warrnambool Cup.

Lure of Sebring

He also dug deep to secure two sons of Sebring, the first at $425,000 for a colt offered by Widden Stud. He is out of Vaquera (NZ) (High Chaparral {IRE}), winner of the G3 Tibbie S. and placed in the G1 Queensland Oaks. She is a daughter of the G1 Avondale Cup winner The Mighty Lions (NZ) (Grosvenor {NZ}).

The second was knocked down to Foote for $320,000 from Sledmere Stud with the colt out of Liesele (Exceed And Excel) with her nine wins including the Listed Alinghi S. She is a half-sister to the Scone Inglis Guineas winner Loved Up (Nicconi).

“The big boys were all there and it was very strong at the top end,” Foote said.

“It was a good catalogue and the standard was higher than last year.” – John Foote.

“There were no real surprises, it’s pretty similar to what’s been happening. It was a good catalogue and the standard was higher than last year.

“There were so many nice horses there that if you kept chipping away you’d get them, but you had to spend most of the budget.

“You don’t see many staying-bred horses there, it’s mainly precociousness and it’s always been the same.”
