Listed Barfoot & Thompson Three Year Old Salver, Ellerslie

Race Summary:

Cutadeel (Dundeel {NZ}) proved himself the superior stayer to win the Listed Barfoot & Thompson Three Year Old Salver (2100m) at Ellerslie.

Cutadeel, ridden by Opie Bosson, charged late after having to sweep wide, and he and second placed Factor Me In (The Factor {USA}) nabbed Swords Drawn (Camelot {GB}) in the final few strides, with less than a half a length separating the top three.

It was Cutadeel's first stakes success and the first black-type win for his sire Dundeel in New Zealand.

The Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman trained gelding is now at the top of the markets for the NZ Derby.

Pedigree Notes:

Cutadeel is out of Dineeta (Dylan Thomas {Ire}), who is the half sister to stakes-winner Cathay Lady (Exceed and Excel) and stakes-placed Extensible (Exceed and Excel).

The third dam is the English Group 3 winner Kerita, who produced three winners, including Group winner Keraka, who produced two stakes-winners of her own.

Cutadeel is the first foal from the mare and his younger full brother was sold at the 2018 Tasmanian Yearling Sale for $90,000. There is also a yearling colt by Reset from Dineeta, who herself was unplaced from six starts.
