Group 3 Wellington S., Otaki

Race Summary:

Crown Prosecutor (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}) jumped to the front and, after an easy sectional, from the 600 metre mark he stayed on strongly.

A three-start maiden going into the event, he was able to make a timely breakthrough in the skilled hands of Jason Waddell for trainer Stephen Marsh.

Crown Prosecutor was chased gamely down the straight by Swords Drawn (Camelot {IRE}), but clung on grimly and the filly Sentimental Miss (NZ) (Reliable Man {GB}) closed late for third.

Pedigree Notes :

The winner was a $50,000 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale buy for respected bloodstock agent Bruce Perry and is a half-brother to a pair of minor winners.

Their dam Riptide (Exceed And Excel) is from a half-sister to the G1 Oakleigh Plate winner River Dove (Hurricane Sky).

The pedigree also features the G2 Magic Night S. winner Willow Creek (Tale Of The Cat {USA}) and the South African Group performer Elusive River (Elusive Quality {USA}).

Listed Levin S., Otaki

Race Summary:

Gift Of Power (NZ) (Power {GB}) had to burn early to get to the front, but from that point it was game over.

A prolific winner, she has now won nine races, the 4-year-old coasted clear on straightening and she never looked like being caught.

Rock ‘n’ Affair (NZ) (Rock ‘n’ Pop) gave a good account of herself for second after jumping from Rating 82 company and Sweepstake (NZ) (Per Incanto {USA}) took third money.

Pedigree Notes :

Yet another triumph here for the famed Eight Carat (GB) (Pieces Of Eight {IRE}) family with the winner a member of the legendary line.

Gift of Power’s dam Capital Diamond was a winner and Group 1 placed and this is her first foal to race.

Second dam Diamond Smile (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}) won eight races, including the G1 Railway H. and she is a half-sister to the outstanding gallopers Octagonal, Kaapstad, Marquise and Mouawad.
