The thoroughbred industry has been rocked by the death of Raheen Stud's Basil Nolan Jr.

Nolan, 45 and a father of four, was killed in a tragic farm accident at the stud at Gladfield near Warwick on Tuesday night.

He worked at the famous Queensland stud, Raheen Stud, one of the region's most successful thoroughbred nurseries, alongside his father Basil Sr, mother Diane and wife Natalie.

He was a well-liked and respected member of the thoroughbred community.

“The thoroughbred breeding industry across Australia is in mourning today,” Thoroughbred Breeders Queensland member Scott McAlpine said in a statement.

“We have received many phone calls from people offering their assistance to the Nolans at this sad time."

“Basil Nolan Jnr was the most genuine and highly regarded studmaster in the Australian thoroughbred breeding industry.”
