The hunt for European-bred middle distance prospects continued for Down Under buyers when the Tattersalls Horses In Training Sale continued at Newmarket on Tuesday.

On behalf of Chris Waller’s champion Sydney stable, Guy Mulcaster secured the Camelot (GB) 3-year-old Gododdin (GB) for 120,000 guineas (A$215,000) from The Castlebridge Consignment.

He has been a three-time winner for Newmarket trainer Hugo Palmer and was successful at his latest appearance over 2400 metres at Newcastle.

Gododdin is a half-brother to three winners, including the G3 Sandown Classic Trial S., placegetter Ranked (IRE) (Montjeu {IRE}).

Group 1 blood

They hail from the family of the G1 Irish Oaks and G1 Prix de l’Opera winner Covert Love (IRE) (Azamour {IRE}) and the former Hong Kong Horse of the Year and multiple Group 1 winner Designs On Rome (IRE) (Holy Roman Emperor {IRE}).

It is a deep pedigree and also includes the G1 Irish Derby winner Grey Swallow (IRE) (Daylami {IRE}).

Mulcaster also claimed another last-start winner in the 4-year-old Across Dubai (GB) (Cape Cross {IRE}) for 80,000 guineas (A$145,000).

He won four of his 11 starts up top 2100 metres from the Newmarket yard of Williams Haggas, including his last two starts.

Bargain purchase

Across Dubai is out of the unraced Dubai Destination (IRE) mare Across Dubai (IRE) and she is out of a half-sister to Warrsan (IRE) (Caerleon {USA}), who won two editions of both the G1 Epsom Coronation Cup and the G1 Preis von Baden.

Paul Moroney also made one purchase, going to 10,000 guineas (A$20,000) for the 2-year-old Unbeatable Dancer (IRE) (Invincible Spirit {IRE}), who has a couple of placings to her credit.

A half-sister to the Group performer Madurai (GER) (Marju {IRE}), the filly is out of Moonlight Danseuse (IRE) (Bering {GB}) who is a half-sister to the G2 York S., winner Stage Gift (IRE) (Cadeaux Genereux {GB}).
