Listed Sale Cup, Sale

Race Summary:

Improved Brisbane 5-year-old Doubt Defying (Not A Single Doubt) rocketed home to claim the Listed Ladbrokes Sale Cup on Sunday.

Visiting trainer Steven O'Dea targeted Doubt Defying at the $200,000 race and got the prize as jockey Michael Walker delivered him late to defeat Fastnet Tempest (Ire) (Fastnet Rock) in a tight finish with Al Passem (Al Maher) third.

It is the eighth win in 17 starts for Doubt Defying, who was a $45,000 buy at the 2015 Magic Millions Sales. He has now won nearly $400,000 in prizemoney and is set to contest a Group race at Sandown next start.

Pedigree notes:

Doubt Defying is stakes-winner No.61 for his sire Not a Single Doubt, and stakes-winner No.2 for his dam, Sarthemare (Anabaa {USA}), who herself won the Listed Black Opal S.

Sarthemare also produced G2 Roman Consul S. winner Sesar (Sebring) and also has a 2-year-old by Dawn Approach (Ire), called Birdy, as well as a foal by Astern. Howard and Judy Blight from Bendaree Park bred Doubt Defying.
