Ormsby's fillies look good at breeze-ups

Two fillies in the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale consignment of Riverrock Farm impressed during the opening session of the breeze-ups at Te Rapa on Monday.

Chad Ormsby’s operation produced Lot 414, a trial-winning daughter of Burgundy (NZ) (Redoute’s Choice) who galloped over 200 metres in 10.71 seconds while Lot 128, by Sacred Falls (NZ) (O’Reilly {NZ}) clock 10.72s on a slow track.

Prima Park presented a well-related pair of colts who breezed in a quick time. The Savabeel (Zabeel {NZ}) colt, Lot 199, ran a time of 10.79s.

Group 1 winning brother

He is a brother to three stakes winners, including Group 1 Queensland Derby winner Brambles (NZ) while the Tavistock colt, Lot 412, who is a three-quarter brother to multiple Group One winner Volkstok’n’barrell (NZ) (Tavistock {NZ}), clocked 10.81.

Prima Park also had the slick pair of an All Too Hard (Casino Prince) colt, Lot 156, and a Tavistock colt, Lot 214, who posted 10.37s.

The quickest time of the day came when Woburn Farm presented an Ocean Park (Thorn Park) gelding, Lot 60, who sped home in 10.35s.

Two Rock ’n’ Pop (Fastnet Rock) geldings, Lots 184 and 317, consigned by Valachi Downs breezed in an identical time of 10.45s.

Kilgravin pair star

Kilgravin Lodge’s colt Rubick (Encosta de Lago), Lot 21, and a Smart Missile (Fastnet Rock) gelding, Lot 243, both breezed-up in 10.99s. The former is a half-brother to current G2 HKJC Sprint Cup winner and Group 1 place getter Beat The Clock (Hinchinbrook).

Last year’s leading vendor Riversley Park produced an Ocean Park gelding, Lot 279, clocked in at 10.55s and a Per Incanto (USA) (Street Cry {IRE}) colt (Lot 306), who is a half-brother to the well-performed Hong Kong sprinter-miler National Treasure (NZ) (Pins), ran 10.56s.

Breeze Up footage will be available for viewing online from Friday, October 19.

This year’s breeze-ups will be aired lot-by-lot on Trackside TV in New Zealand and Racing.com in Australia with schedules yet to be announced.
